The Best Yoga Mat

I have learnt over the years that there are certain things that are just worth investing in.

Spectacles: Because they help me see… and they make me look smarter than I actually am!

Trainers: Because my feet carry me around all day… and often make me look cooler than I actually am!

High quality loo roll: I don’t think I need to explain this

Yoga mat: Because my practice is part of me and I jump/sit/roll/chill/cry/laugh on that thing every day!

I spent years eating my way through budget yoga mats. I would buy the cheapest mat I could find (often from the supermarket) and after a couple of months have to replace it. They were often really thin so I constant had bruised knees, not very grippy which meant they turned into a slip and slide, and eventually would start to break down leaving a little trail of rubber behind me in every class I went to.

I finally accepted the fact that my yoga practice wasn’t just a phase, or fad. Yoga had become a really important part of my life so it was time to invest in a decent mat.

I have now owned the same yoga mat for over 5 years. It gets used pretty much daily and it is in as good nick (if not better) than the day I bought it and I’m pretty sure that mat is going to be with me for many, many, many more years of practice to come.

So, if yoga has become an important part of your life and you’re ready to upgrade to a mat that can stand up to supporting you though your asana journey, then check out this best buy guide to help you decide which one is right for you. There is a lot of choice out there, but don’t panic, reviews.com have done the hard work for you testing 30 of the best and whittling it down to the top 10!
